Duke duplicity
This is a transcript of a text message exchange between Miriam and me last night:
Alice: Awesome Duke-UNC game
Miriam: I know, gotta love jj
Miriam came to New York last weekend and was buzzing about her newfound love for college basketball. It was J.J. Redick this, J.J. Redick that. "He's the greatest!" she enthused. I'll just let that sink in for everyone who knows Miriam.
My roommate is a rabid Duke fan who may belong to the Facebook community, "J.J. Redick for Poet Laureate." She had a Duke party last night, which I felt slightly conflicted attending, given that I have vague plans to attend an anti-Duke party sometime soon. Duke men's basketball doesn't inspire me and it doesn't disgust me; I just like to sit back and watch the fans and enemies debate.
